Community Spotlight - Dingo Dixie
The silent whale
Name/nickname: Dingo-Dixie Forever PFP: DAA Dream PFP: Good question! A BAYC if I'm insane enough but otherwise a gold skin DAA with rainbow vomit Country: Yes IRL Job: Creative marketing for E-Commerce Crypto/NFT origin story: Crypto - Bought $150 worth of LTC on Coinbase in 2017 because it was touted as the 'next BTC'. Sold it not long after for a loss and went into Tron. Did not Crypto much after but came back in early 2019 just in time for the rise of the BSC empire. Went deep into shitcoins and yield farming from 2020-2021 NFT - My first NFT was The Wanderers collection on ETH. Amazing audio and visuals but not PFP-worthy so it didn't do well. Flipped a couple more like Uninterested unicorns, Deadfellaz and Mekaverse. Switched to Cardano/BSC and eventually made my way to SOL where I minted Skeleton Crew and Boneworld Favorite NFT project & why: DAA, Claynosaurs, and Popheadz. DAA because the community is basically a bunch of down bad losers and I love them for it. Claynosaurs and Popheadz simply because the art is goddamn amazing and window shopping for different traits is so fun! Biggest win in NFTs: A life-changing mint on BSC that I sold for many zeroes Biggest L in NFTs: 1) Friend of mine told me about an ape collection that was minting for 0.08 ETH in early 2021. Faded him. That collection was BAYC. The same friend told me about another ape project on Solana but I thought there is only space for 1 ape collection so I faded him. It was DAA 2) Bought 3 SSC at 20 SOL each and flipped them at 25 each. They went x10 a couple of weeks later Fun fact about yourself: I keep a diary detailing my Crypto journey from 2017 till date. It's strangely cathartic. Oh and I love One Piece! What excites you about the future of NFTs: When my normie peers ask about NFTs, I always compare NFT collections to Patreon. Both allow fans and collectors to choose the projects they like and provide financial support/funds in exchange for content and exclusive rewards. NFTs are just doing it on a bigger scale with the idea of decentralized ownership. For creatives, this means a free space for self-expression with no limitations and that's super exciting! What do you want to see next for SOL NFTs: More art-based collections. Flipping JPEGs for profits is fun but seeing floor price talk gets really tiring. I'd love to see more communities that mainly focus on collecting and sharing awesome art Who do you currently look up to or respect in web3 and why: I have great respect for artists in the NFT space. They have probably faced more criticism for their work here compared to traditional web2 but most of them ignored the noises and made something out of themselves in the end. That's very worthy of respect I'd say Current personal NFT goal: I'm a perfectionist with sometimes crippling anxiety. Those 2 are possibly the worst combination an artist can have but my hope one day is to push through that mental barrier and call myself a 1/1 artist in this space Current personal IRL goal: Having control over one's time is the highest dividend money pays so basically getting to that point of full control is what I strive for every day. Wouldn't mind more dogs too
