Community Spotlight - Jenn Fir
Crossmint's sci-fi writing queen
Name/nickname: Jenn Fir - this is my pen name Forever PFP: DeGod #3941, almost bought him back at ~45 SOL but missed it due to a meeting Dream PFP: Next PFP, not dream, is a Moonbird. They’re cute as heck. Country: United States IRL Job: Business Development, PR, & writing at Crossmint Crypto/NFT origin story: Attempted to buy CryptoKitties and got frustrated with failed txns/wasted gas on ETH back in 2018-2019. Started day trading ~3 years ago. Got into crypto trading in August 2021 and immediately jumped to Solana NFTs in September. Fell in love with Desolates and Crossmint in November and that was that Favorite NFT project & why: Desolates (SOL). They’re an ambitious metaverse project that is focused strongly on a decentralized metaverse experience that can be designed and crafted into anything, not just a pretty walled garden, though those have their place. The team is dedicated to building regardless of conditions. I see huge opportunity as soon as a few new features come out, like creating your own 3D, VR-ready, highly accessible marketplace for any product, metaverse events with automatic participation NFT minting, fractionalization of planetary real estate, etc. I could talk about this for hours. Biggest win in NFTs: Biggest win on a conscious decision-making level is my purchase of another DeGod and y00t t00b during the FTX fiasco, when SOL was dooming. Those purchases have already doubled in floor price. Biggest L in NFTs: I love FFF and Peskies. But back in early January or so, I had enough SOL to buy one of the following: FFF, SolGods, Pesky Penguins, or DeGods. I’m just gonna say I didn’t buy the one with triple digit floor price. Fun fact about yourself: I’m a science fiction author on the side… and I just got accepted to a Masters of Creative Writing with a focus in Publishing at Western Colorado University! The program is led by my friend and prolific sci-fi author Kevin J. Anderson. Also, I brew mead on the side and enjoy big game hunting. What excites you about the future of NFTs: Revolutionizing historically dismal profit structures for creators and engaging communities while rewarding superfans. Liberating our data and earned online artifacts from exclusive, centralized servers (corporate loyalty programs and items in MMOs, for example) Who do you currently look up to or respect in web3 and why: Litecoinyagami - He’s a great guy and I enjoy his tweet threads greatly. The thing I like the most is that I’ve watched him experiment for many months, learn, and improve — then absolutely take off. What do you want to see next for SOL NFTs: Graduation from simple degeneracy and focusing instead on buildoors. Treating it like Kickstarter rather than a casino. Current personal NFT goal: Collect more 1:1 art pieces and fill my office walls with them Current personal IRL goal: Win the prestigious and difficult Writers of the Future contest Twitter Website
